Nazi Germany in WW2. Of course many gave their lives in the war. In a brief search, I didn't find accurate estimates of casualties, but do note that Ukrainian websites that discuss this are focusing more on alleged Russian downplaying of the role of other Soviet republics in the WW2 triumph than on the defeat of fascism. I don't know how true that claim is, but it certainly shows the toxic nature of the current interplay of dialogue between Russia and the Ukrainian coup government.

And documented historical records of pogroms in Lvov. And in Poland. The origin of violence has something to do with peace-loving Ukrainians treated as no-citizens by wealthy Jews and Polish bourgeoisie under Austro-Hungarian Empire rule.
Therefore, you have this unfair treatment of Hungarian nationals as second grade citizens these days. Long memory, short fuses.
In my defense I was left unsupervised and in the Soviet times it was not a good tone to talk about atrocities that did happened inter-war period.
But it is a mystery to me, as how good old Westerners live with the narrative of brave ukro-nazi forming a red thin line of defense against the ultimate aggressor.
They can easily crush a drone at your residential building if they want some attention. Or attack a largest nuclear plant in Europe. The tail wiggles the dog.

The long shadows of Western support for Ukrainian Fascists and Nazis, loom over all of this. That "diaspora" grew out of OPERATION PAPERCLIP and Project AERODYNAMIC.
