“Can we live in this world, where historical occurrence is nothing but an unending concatenation of illusory progress and bitter disappointment?” — Edmund Husserl
“…There is progress in knowledge, in technology, in the prerequisites for new human possibilities, but not in the substance of humanity. ... The physical annihilation of the highest types of men by the oppressive realities of the mass is a fundamental phenomenon of history. ... There is a constant counter-selection of those who are inferior, e.g. in conditions under which cunning and brutality promise lasting advantages.” — Karl Jaspers
“In history as a whole there has been progress only in technology and in the rationalization of existence; in the areas of true humanity and of the human mind, a history that brought forth the extraordinary has simultaneously been the triumphal parade route of destructive forces. … If the technological wrecking of the foundations of all human existence were a possibility, there is small doubt that some day it would be a reality. By our activities we can impede things, put them off, win periods of grace, but all the experience of human history suggests that some day, somewhere, somebody will do the worst that can be done.” — Karl Jaspers
“Progress is pure illusion. It affects only the sphere of matter, while the spirit is inexorably degenerating. What our contemporaries pass off as achievements are in fact shameful vices — rejection of religion as a prejudice, amoralism as an overcoming of complexes, contempt for the past as arrogant ignorance, stupidity elevated to a norm. Reality becomes ghostly. Aristocratic ideals oppose the false ideals of liberalism; they are replaced by the lowbrow tastes of the crowds — the market and entertainment, social conformism and intellectual anarchy. Rationalism, criticalism, relativism and all such mutilated trends carry a profane element that has completely permeated the modern world. The end of the modern world is but the end of illusion.” — René Guénon
These commentators, quoted above, may each reach the same conclusion, the human species is on a path to destroy itself, but they surely get there by different paths. One recognizes that the psychopaths are in control, and actively work to eliminate those not like them. The other, perhaps from the psychopath-side, denigration those less worthy, "lowbrow tastes of the crowds," as if those "tastes" were not the product of being intentionally inculcated, by the controlling elites, e.g., psychopaths.
Nietzsche was the first to draw a frightening picture of the modern world, which has been relentlessly repeated by everyone ever since: the collapse of culture: education is replaced by empty knowledge; spiritual substance — by the universal facade of fake life; boredom is drowned out by drugs of all kinds and thrills; every living spiritual germ is suppressed by the noise and rumble of the illusory spirit; everyone talks, but no one listens; everything decays in the flow of words; everything is blabbed and betrayed. None other than Nietzsche showed the desert of the mad race for profit; showed the meaning of the machine and the mechanization of labor; showed the meaning of the emerging phenomenon — the masses. But all this is for Nietzsche in the foreground, a ripple on the surface. Today, "when the whole earth is trembling, when everything is cracking at the seams," the main events take place in the depths, and what we observe are only consequences; a resident of a cozy age of calm and complacent bourgeoisie, Nietzsche writes with a shudder of genuine horror about what no one has yet noticed: the main event is that "God is dead". "Here is the monstrous news that will not reach the consciousness of Europeans until a few centuries from now; but then — then it will long seem to them that things have lost their reality...". "The rise of nihilism," Nietzsche predicts, "will be the history of the next two centuries. Our whole European culture has long been moving with agonizing tension, with trembling and grinding, increasing from decade to decade, toward catastrophe; not moving calmly, but convulsively, in rapid spurts, as if by force: "I wish it would end sooner rather than later, if only to avoid waking up, because it is so terrible to wake up and come to your senses"... Whereas for Christianity the general course of history was predetermined and the question of the salvation of the soul remained open for each individual, for Nietzsche the direction of the general process is in question: in which direction it will go depends on the will and activity of man. Hegel refused to pose the question of the future; Marx urged to hasten the coming of what was already coming by virtue of necessity, which, as it seemed to him, was irrefutably proven by his science; but Nietzsche saw in the future the most terrible danger: man can perish, can become an ape again, if at the last moment he does not succeed in decisively changing the direction of history.
Shouldn't it give us pause that by and large the perpetrators of the great horrors of the 20th and 21th century (to skip for now what went on before), that by and large all hail from nations, countries and cultures steeped in the biblical narrative?
I would suggest, that part of the human species failure, is the inability to recognize being an integral part of nature. As for "becoming an ape again," we have two closest primate cousins, right now, we seem drawn towards the chimpanzee, and their practices, but the other cousin offers a different path, that of the bonobos, who do not practice war, nor use violence as a means of settling disagreements. The bonobos, in fact, do welcome the stranger. A prescription, once articulated in some folks, holy texts.
Here in America I have a German neighbor who tells me "It's not a genocide." I am shocked at blindness but in my 80 years I have never seen anything until now.
The search for justice never ends! The Hind Rajab Foundation is tracking down Israeli criminals, and bringing them to justice. This is vital in the effort to hold Israel accountable. May they also turn their sights on the criminal leaders of the countries of the west who are co-perpetrators of these crimes.
Annalena to Columbia- where she can schmooze with her Zionist compatriot Hillary. How perfect (ly vomitous) is that! The ruling class in the US is imploding into system-wide forceful suppression of any and all dissent and protest that would dare go beyond the lame, evasive "No Kings" rallies approved and molded by the genocidal DNC.
Respectfully speaking, I found your verbiage extremely demur almost to the point of apologetic. As if you feared overstepping a boundary which leaves me personally questioning your integrity.
Case in point, you write: "Of the roughly 1,200 casualties on 7 October, hundreds are likely to have been due to Israeli-on-Israeli violence"
It's a known fact the figure is much closer to 900 (some say 925) and not "roughly 1200." Their specific orders were to capture and not kill as many soldiers as possible.
There was nothing "likely" about the IDF intentionally killing their own civilians. Again it is a known fact, the IDF deliberately killed the vast majority of Israel's that day - of which less than 100 people were actually killed by Hamas, who were also soldiers.
The same people behind this are pushing for you to give up your pensions benefits to fund their wars.

Excellent article Tarik that I will circulate.
Here in America I have a German neighbor who tells me "It's not a genocide." I am shocked at blindness but in my 80 years I have never seen anything until now.
That old saying: "None so blind as them that will not see."

Sooah, why the sugar coating?
I appreciate your commentary very much.
