Events move quickly, and our lives are cluttered--at any rate, my life is horribly cluttered-- so that it is not enough to know the fact that something has happened. One needs to reflect and make connections. Your comments help immensely. Thank you
I agree that Israeli impunity has been significantly damaged by Prosecutor Khan's application for arrest warrants for Gallant and Netanyahu. That is part of the gradual crumbling of the Zionist state, whose days may well be numbered as Dr. Amar notes, but what will stop their ongoing daily, hourly criminal actions, this ongoing genocide? By the time the Nazi leaders were hanged or imprisoned, it was too late for countless millions.
As always, a very meticulous, intelligent and vivid analysis of the severe and complex political implications of the ICC warrants issued, its limits and severe flaws. Nontheless its transformative importance. To be cautious it would be the best position, because as Susan Abulhawa remarcs in her latest article to the Electronic Intifada, the opression system always "adapt" to the new conditions of the game, and better beware of not to believe to much in the illusions of victory we are able to fall again because our need of justice: step by step, one at the time. The riss in the "wall of opression" is clear, cautiously we must stay steadfast in make it deep and deeper.
Very good conclusion indeed concerning impunity and Israel's need for immunity from the law as a rogue state. Well done! A well- tailored piece, with great heart. Useful to me in approaching my parliamentary representative.
Excellent commentary. Now that it is clear that Israel is losing the ground war in Gaza and has lost the PR battle internationally, it seems Khan is furthering a strategy of US and EU political elites to first of all to get rid of Netanyahu and hope his replacement will be somebody that can put a prettier face to apartheid and ethnic cleansing, and second to delegitimize the Palestinian armed resistance as part of an effort to try to impose a satisfactory collaborator regime in Gaza.
Yes, quire possible. Lets hope things are better than that as a result of people's own strong, insistent representations to their government representatives; like an international coalition of military force to protect, assist and set up a Palestinian military to defend their own land to the borders agreed way back when - 1968?
