The conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, where the US and European allies are losing strategically, are signs that the 500 reign of global European and US empires - Spain, Portugal, France, Great Britain and US - is coming to an end.

Leaving out the Dutch and Germans hardly seems fair!

Professor Amar is making incredibly good sense, here. Far too good of sense, for the leaders in 'the [Empire of the] west' to wake up and listen to him.

I fear that quaint and antiquated notions of democracy aside, that we the people, here in the west - are like passengers on the Titanic. The Captains on this ship of State, have deliberately set a collision course for the iceberg - based upon flawed assumptions about the strength and invincibility of the vessel. I fear we have a very short window of time left, to save our own lives.

The only way to avoid catastrophe, at this point - appears to involve storming the bridge, arresting the Captain(s), and grabbing controls. We need to turn this leviathan from its present course, before it's too late. Any other course of actions - is certain to end in disaster.

One has to wonder if the human species is capable of surviving in even the short-term. Those in power seem to have no concept of humanity, therefore would seem to see little need to worry about the outcomes of their reckless actions. We live in a patriarchal death cult. Do we have any ideas about how to get out of this way of thinking?

In times like these I always remember the quote from Teilhard de Chardin, the French scientist and mystic - “The age of nations has passed, now if we do not wish to perish, we must set aside ancient prejudices and build the Earth”.

I couldn’t disagree with that. The urgent question is how to go from generalized encapsulations to concrete steps to the solution.

February 3, 2018 - The Trump administration outlined sweeping changes in U.S. nuclear strategy Friday, calling for two new types of nuclear weapons and warning for the first time that in “extreme circumstances” the U.S. could use nuclear weapons in response to non-nuclear attacks on infrastructure and civilians.

Enough with the white on black page already. It is hard on the eyes.

From my vantage, the biggest threat to western governments, should Ukraine collapse and the conflict end, will be Putin's decision whether to "push" westward into Europe or not. I can't imagine why he would want to, and when/if he doesn't, the many lies that were spewed to generate Russophobia in western populations will be exposed. Given current political climates in the west, Putin could inflict more pain by sitting pat.

That's why I suspect the west will do as much as possible to keep the conflict going: sadly.

Great stuff! Many thanks.

The West has a history of obstinately not hearing Russian messages–nor Chinese messages, as we saw in 1951.

Again my sincere thanks for your in-minute-detail outlining of the corners into which the US/UK-led-Eu/NATO has been backed. If the leaders of these organisations/governments fail to listen then on their heads the destruction of the world. I feel safer - but not much - in south-east Australia - because the Australian government has also been arm-twisted into sending military equipment and military training to Ukraine - and reporters pro-the Zelenskiy clique - making Australia complicit. We know that the British nuclear so-called testing in western and central southern Australia in the mid-later 1950s led to high strontium levels of radiation appearing in the bones of children during those years (as was later revealed - investigated - secretly at the time) all over eastern Australian states and as far as Aotearoa/NZ). Should anyone opposing the US wish to take out its surveillance/drone-directing spy bases in Central and North-Western Australia with a nuclear device - not only would they destroy Original Peoples countries - they would affect the whole country - the southern hemisphere!
