Wouldn’t the Israeli attack on the consular building in Damascus also be an act of war against Syria? I can imagine other countries thinking it was, had the building that was sruck been in, say, London, Paris, or Washington D.C., for example. What rights does Syria have in this situation?
Yes, it is one of Israel's many acts of war against Syria as well. Syria would have the right to strike back, but, unlike Iran, it doesn't have the capacity to do so because it ha been weakened by years of US regime change war.
Dave DeCamp on Antiwar.com's podcast said recently that by his count, using official sources, Israel has bombed Syria 33 times this year. While it pales next to the crimes committed daily by Israel throughout Palestine, let that number sink in - 33 times!
Thanks to you. So meticulous analysis, clear and elegantly expressed, with the mind and the heart in the right places, and interconnected as well (as a Germany resident, you are bringing hope that another Germany, through out inner work, sensitiv intelligence, honesty and humility it is really possible).
A so necessary message and state of where we are now. Great Podcast project. I will spread the word about it.
There must be an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Pope Francis has said what is needed, now he must do what is needed by going to Gaza and standing for peace, justice and freedom.
Let us also support UNRWA. If our governments won’t act in accordance with humanity, then we will. https://www.unrwausa.org/donate Let us do it to honor Aaron Bushnell, or in memory of Hind Rajab.
Let us call for a No Fly-Zone over Gaza!
These are a few small things we can do. If we can do more, let us do more.
US hypocrisy and double standards are staggering. The USA, which in 1948 midwifed a colonial state while claiming to advocate de-colonization, now blocks the surviving victims of that colonization from attaining full statehood. Washington then advertises its cynicism by effectively handing veto power over Palestinian membership to the Israelis.
Anyone who swalllows Israel's "rewarding terrorism" bait presumably knows nothing of the King David Hotel massacre, the assassination of Count Bernadotte, and the pogrom committed by Israeli Jews in Deir Yassin. Shameful indeed.
Thanks Tarik, very informative podcast exploring aspects of these issues I was unaware of. I go along with Max Blumenthal who said that Gilad Erdan was probably the worst UN Representative ever from any country.
After listeining to this podcast, (and thanks for starting these!) I was trying to think of who could possibly be a more despicable Israeli UN ambassador than the current one and settled on Itimar Ben Givr. After Iran's retaliatory strike on Israel, Ben Givr's advice was that Israel should "go nuts", and followed that up with the casual suggestion that executing detained Palestinian "terrorists" could ease the current jail overcrowding in Israel while new jails (torture chambers actually) are constructed.
Thank you. It beggars belief what is going on in Gaza and the hypocrisy of western govts is staggering. Israel weaponised Holocaust for the purpose of getting away with crimes no other country in the world would be able to. Israel has lost its credibility and more people in the world are waking up to realisation what rogue state it is.
Thank you, Tarik. Your calm and thorough exposition was what I needed this morning, waking up in Canada, another complicit state, fearing to find out what horrendous attack Iran had been subjected to. You‘ve put things in needed perspective, again. And your focus on the ongoing suffering people of Gaza is also much appreciated- too many commentators seem content to forget this. Old news? Your humanity, as well as the humanity of the young people you rightly applaud suggests there is still hope …
Dear Tarik: I have been gifted a month of your Podcasts. This is the first which I have been able to view/listen to. Thank-you. In general terms I agree with everything - but it is the particular way in which you present the situation which is illuminating in degrees I have not seen argued elsewhere. Bravo! I was at the stage of feeling I had no more ways of expressing how distressing and ugly I find the Zionist lying and land-theft, its apartheid - its torture and murders and genocide - its lack of humanity. (I wonder if in future you might have some words to say on the contentious understanding that many/most "Jewish" citizens of Israel have no DNA from the land of Palestine of 2,000 years ago?) Jim
Ha! Just caught myself in a mistake of, I think, detail: I misspoke: Jan (or Ivan) Bloch here, of course, not Marc.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and incisive analysis.

This is the best and most infomativ podcast, I´ve ever had the joy to listen to. And I listen to a lot.

Just amazing analysis. Wonderful. Kudos
