We really need to ask: how did this "pernicious group think" arise? Clearly it is not a spontaneous phenomenon, it was cultivated. One can only discern the vague outlines of what appears to have happened: a kind of intellectual, ideological "soft-coup" which has essentially captured the entire superstructure of contemporary Germany and western Europe more generally. It happened in the course of just a few short years, one only needs to look at the power grab by the EU to see how relatively quickly this happened. Not so long ago the European Community was essentially a free-trade bloc with benefits; today it is a fiercely anti-democratic, authoritarian behemoth.

Always the best polemics from Dr. Amar! Geopolitically speaking, geography is the most stubborn of facts, but that hasn't stopped Germany from seeing giant Russia as solely an existential threat. Germany has chosen to fight multiple wars against Russia (or in 1941 the Soviet Union), which always result in severe self-inflicted wounds in addition to the grievous injuries inflicted on the Eurasian behemoth. The USSR sustained an estimated 27 million deaths in WW2, and the Red Army still took Berlin (with help of course from its allies- all those who gave their lives to stop the Nazis must be remembered and honored.) But here Germany's leaders are once again, having apparently learned literally nothing from their disastrous past.

Well written analysis. This political stupidity - the Washington vassalisation - is seen in most EU countries. In Denmark we're striving to be the best in this class of idiots; our prime minister is working tirelessly to please Team America.

It's not Germany's unique situation but very similar problems afflict the combined west, even the Anglo/American colonies of the Pacific, Au and NZ. The oligarchy will refuse any meaningful reform and will and delay and obfuscate while selling off the silverware. At the end of this will likely be state breakdown as current systems are totally unfit. Of course the EU will go first.

The visceral TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) of the EU countries, together with the US cutting of the umbilical when it comes to financing Zelensky's war, might just about suffice to shatter Europe's illusions of US comradeship.

The Atlanticist policy was useful for Germany, but has become pathologically unconditional.
