Great essay! The best example of a political entity that is "still standing" after intense U.S. attack is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. For 73 years North Korea has stood against the worst the U.S. can throw at it, not including nuclear bombs (though including other WMD, such as biological weapons). Of course, America's rulers are not done with North Korea yet, and continue to threaten it with nuclear annihilation. The difference is that now the DPRK has nuclear weapons of its own. America may yet learn the terrible lesson that its own aggression has prepared for it for a long, long time. It is, in fact, its terrible destiny!

Yes, both Hezbollah -and Iran- must exercise caution in assisting Gaza through attacks on Israel. They take seriously Israeli threats to turn Beirut into Gaza and like the whole world, they see what the Zionists are doing to Gaza.
